Taiwan unveiled an IPv6 center the island's first and the world's fourth aimed at raising the quality of online communications. The center is the fourth in the world after similar establishments in Japan, South Korea and mainland China.

The center, part of the Challenge 2008 national development project seeking to make fast-speed data transmission more available to people, is a joint effort by the government, the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) and the Taiwan Computer Association (TCA).
