Taiwan on the way to integrating IP telephony with PSTN

The Taiwan government plans to offer “070” (the initial three digits) Internet Protocol (IP) phone numbers in 2005. The network is expected to connect to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to form a dual telephone network, according to the IP Phone Open Exchange (IPOX).

As well, IPOX will cooperate with the IPv6 Forum Taiwan to promote IPv6 voice over IP (VoIP), the consortium said.
