Broadcom steps ahead with secure and IPv6 enabled E'net switch

Broadcom Corp.'s third-generation StrataXGS is the first Ethernet switch product to integrate security blocks directly into a 1- and 10-Gbit switching architecture.

The chip has a full packet buffer for quality-of-service scheduling, an Internet Protocol version 6 forwarding engine for OEMs moving to IPv6 support, a wireless-LAN switching interface that allows full integration of enterprise-level wired and wireless LANs, and security blocks from BlueSteel.
